Who is Meri Armour?
I am a retired healthcare executive. Most notably, I was the President and CEO of LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis Tennessee for 12 years. I retired from that position in 2019. Prior to that I was the Senior Vice President of Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland Ohio for 7 years. Both these senior roles provided me with invaluable experience in leading large, complex institutions, managing financials, both expenses and revenue. I was charged with strategic growth at both hospitals which required planning, fund raising and community engagement. Both hospitals are exceptional, and it was a privilege to serve them. I think one hallmark of success I will acknowledge is that both LeBonheur and Rainbow have continued to grow and gain further successes after my departures. I feel like I left them on solid ground with a succession plan that has proven to be very strong and capable.
I am a nurse by background with the majority of my career in pediatrics. I have worked at the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and Ohio State University Hospitals. My experience has been tempered by working at some of the finest healthcare institutions in Ohio, if not the nation.
I have served numerous boards, so the experience of board, board committee work and the proprieties of the board’s role are well known to me. I believe in servant leadership and all my board positions have been in non-profits with organizations I felt served a vital function in their field and in their communities.
